She helped me build my resume and cover letter according to the industry standards which is very important as it’s the first impression of you for an interviewer. I clearly remember Mock interview sessions she use to take with me which helped me to build confidence and positive attitude.

Robin is a wonderful and very forthcoming person. With on and off roles since I moved to Sydney last January, I was still not getting a break into the role I wanted in the pharmaceutical industry. Attending Robin’s workshop a day before an interview, reiterated the points I had to keep in mind to crack the interview. She not only provided insights into the Australian culture but also gave some strong tips and information on how to get to the forefront. My association with Robin did not stop at the workshop, I kept in touch with her through coffee dates and I am also widening my social circle here with wonderful people she has connected me to. Needless to say I am now going to work on a role I most desired. If you are a new immigrant to the Australian job market, Robin is the way forward for you. Robin happened to me just when I needed it and I hope to continue being in touch with her in the time to come.

CASE STUDY
ANSHUL

New to Australia - from Helpless to Hopeful

Anshul was new to Australia and had been working in the marketing industry in India for the last 3 years.  She had a Bachelors degree in Marketing but also a Masters in Marketing.

Anshul did not have family in Australia other than her new husband, and thus had no professional network or contacts to assist her in finding a new job. Anshul was eager to find work in Marketing but being new to the country, she found it difficult getting interviews.

After a few months of searching, Anshul met Robin at a social event and they exchanged contact details. Anshul advised Robin that she wanted to find a junior marketing job preferably in the city (Sydney). She was willing to consider part time or administrative work if it related to marketing.

After submitting many job applications she wasn’t successful in getting a new job.  Anshul had been on only one or two job interviews, but still didn’t get the job. She was not sure what she should do differently.  Robin noticed her English skills and positive attitude were great, so she needed to dig deeper on why she wasn’t landing a job.

First Robin asked Anshul to complete a Gallup Strengths Survey to help her unpack her strengths.  Once Robin helped Anshul to better understand her strengths, they weaved her top 5 strengths into her resume summary section and helped her improve her LinkedIn profile. Learning her strengths also helped Anshul prepare for interviews.

Robin suggested that Anshul volunteer at a company to gain some “local” experience and helped her find a startup that needed help with their marketing strategy but they couldn’t pay her.  Anshul volunteered with them for two months while she continued her job search. This provided Anshul local marketing experience as well as a job reference for her first Australian job.

The entire solution took 2 to 3 months until Anshul landed a Marketing Coordinator job.  She has since moved on to a more senior Marketing role with a new company as National Promotions Planner.

Through Robin’s coaching, Anshul’s confidence was boosted along with finding her local work experience, which helped launch her Australian marketing career - and now Anshul is on her way in forging her career in Marketing.
